I bought all my Marvel comics in the late 1960s when I was about 10 years old. I would cycle 20 miles to a local UK shop - then I stored the Silver Age comics safely away for 56 years! Kala, Queen of the Netherworld! Characters Iron Man [Tony Stark]; Kala; Jim Evans. Comic story / 13 pages.

Synopsis Stark is abducted by the queen of an underground kingdom to help her invade the surface. As Iron Man, Stark shows her that she would rapidly age on the surface, convincing her to call off the invasion.

Synopsis A scientist creates a time machine just to prove that it can be done, but never plans to use it, since he knows that it would be too dangerous to attempt to alter the past. His assistant, however, is envious of the fame such a journey would bring and so clouts the scientist on the jaw and takes off in the machine, only to find himself stuck in the past rendered insubstantial by fate like a ghost unable to affect anything. Kala, Queen Of The Netherworld! Tony Stark, along with a few bystanders but without his trusted attache case! , is kidnapped from his factory and taken to the Netherworld, an underground civilization descended from Atlantis. Kala, their queen, plans to invade and conquer the world above, but lacks the means to get her forces above ground -- hence why she captured Stark: either the scientist develops a way for her to reach the surface, or she kills all the captives.

Stark pretends to agree, and asks to be in a private lab and not to be disturbed. He makes a model of his Iron Man armour, and claims that Stark had drilled through to the surface to get him. He then manages to fight off all of Kala's defences, and then takes her to the surface, where he shows her that a hostile takeover would be pointless, as she ages dramatically in the surface air. Kala agrees to let Stark and his friends go, and takes another person who lives underground, named Baxu, to be her husband. You Can't Change The Past!
